Trijicon released their new RMR HD which I think kind of looks like a blend between an RMR and an SRO. It has a hood that hangs out forward like an SRO but the glass is shaped like an RMR (but bigger).

Here is my quick impression:

• The buttons are big and hard to miss, I like that
• The glass is bigger than the old RMR, I like that
• It looks robust (although I didn't try dropping this one), I like that
• It has a light sensor on the front to auto balance the brightness of the reticle, I like that
• It fits in an RMR footprint and works with existing RMR plates, I like that
• The battery is now accessible from the top without having to take the optic off the slide, I like that
